Kuja is the antagonist of the Square Co., Ltd. PlayStation game, Final Fantasy IX. A sorcerer obsessed with the concept of power, Kuja has a temperament of unprecedented ambition, cruelty, and ruthlessness. Most distinguishable for his exterior magnificence, Kuja wears an attire of effeminate nature to reflect his deeply narcissistic and self-admiring personality.

Exceptionally sophisticated in the arts, he possesses extensive knowledge of the world's magic, and has a great fondness for such classical works as Lord Avon's play "I Want To Be Your Canary." Always a lover of theatricality, Kuja is well-known for his bombastic demeanor, extravagant dress, and is fond of playing out conflicts in the manner of a traditional stage villain.

Some noted problems with the piece:

The anatomy of his arms is really off due to the perspective and his long sleeves. It looks awkward. They're supposed to be behind his head, but something about the lengths and the directions are wrong.
His stomach is too square.
I should have worked with a larger size. It would have let me add more detail. This would have probably also prevented the blurry grain in the image.
His feet are too small.
The foot coming forward is a bit too thin just above the ankle.
The buttons on the leg are a few pixels too far to the right.
It would look better with more ripples in the water emanating directly from Kuja's feet. It looks like he's standing on the surface but not having any effect on it.

Do you have a tablet?: I didn't when I did this piece, but I do now. It's a Wacom Graphire 2.

Please tell me he's not wearing a cod piece. I've always considered what he's wearing to be a thong, lol.

You pen tooled the lineart AND coloured this without a tablet!? Yes, it was quite a tedious process.

What do you prefer, using a pencil or a tablet? I enjoy both. I used to draw my pictures with pencil, scan them, work on the line art with the tablet and color with the tablet, but now I've just started doing everything via tablet. It takes getting used to. This picture was done with pencil then mouse, though, because I didn't own a tablet then.
