Commission - The Vexing Weald

This is a commission I did for `OfOneSoul of her characters Aiden, The Shadow, Fayodin, and Noratah. They are from her story, and for this picture she requested they be in a location from her story called the Vexing Weald. It is a white forest that has long been dead. The trees are all white and petrified, and the ground is a white dust. a

She also requested the scene be at night next to a lake in the center of the Vexing Weald called Be'dwith. The characters are attending a Kindler Funeral. Kindlers in her world are large insects that eat plants to harvest sunlight. The light they emit from their translucent bodies is the purest light source other than the sun. At kindler funerals they gather together over a lake to say goodbye.

I did my best to capture this scene, and I hope you all like it. I have to admit this picture was quite a challenge for me because I'm not used to drawing architecture or scenes this large. I'm almost not used to drawing more than two characters in a picture. Either way, I was happy for the challenge and working on this commission helped me realize a lot of weaknesses that I need to focus on.
